Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and DTS Neural:X for cinematic sound
Continuing the ‘cinema at home’ theme, this Onkyo AVR is compatible with both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. Both formats use ceiling or upward firing speakers to deliver an immersive, multi-dimensional sound. Dolby Atmos and DTS:X make an overhead aircraft sound frighteningly realistic or a tropical storm a drenching experience. DTS Neural:X upmixes non-DTS:X signals, giving you a similarly enveloping sound with other sources.

Compatible with 2, 5.1 or 7.1 speaker configurations, DTS Virtual:X gives a greater impression of height and immersive sound.

Much more than just an AV receiver, the TX-NR696 M3 is also a fully comprehensive music streamer. From Apple AirPlay 2 to Chromecast and taking in ‘Works with Sonos’, this Onkyo AVR has you covered. Integrated Amazon Music, Spotify (Premium account required for full features), TIDAL and Deezer are all standard. There’s even FlareConnect and DTS Play-Fi plus TuneIn for Internet radio and Bluetooth music streaming.

Apple AirPlay 2
Ideal for Apple users, AirPlay 2 takes this popular wireless streaming format and makes it better. Controllable by simply asking Siri or using your Apple device, AirPlay 2 lets you effortlessly stream music and podcasts around your home – and all in perfect sync.

Works with Sonos
’Works with Sonos’ certification means that this Onkyo seamlessly integrates with your existing Sonos system. Once connected to a compatible Sonos product, you can group the receiver with other Sonos devices or use it independently. Working with Sonos means as soon as you start playing music from your Sonos app, the Onkyo switches on and automatically selects the correct input.

Chromecast with Google Assistant

Streaming music between rooms from any source, including records and CDs, is easy with FlareConnect. When used with compatible FlareConnect speakers, you can listen to your treasured vinyls and CDs in any room. Music selection, speaker grouping and playback control is all built-in to the Onkyo Controller App for effortless smartphone or tablet control.

HDMI interface with twin outputs
Featuring six HDMI inputs at the back, plus a further front-mounted socket, the TXNR696 M3 is equipped for the most comprehensive systems. Twin HDMI outlets include a second, Zone 2, for independent outputs. Zone 2 audio can also be outputted via active or passive outlets.

When it comes to connecting all your music and AV sources, this Onkyo has everything covered – including your turntable (with Moving Magnet cartridge). As well as the turntable input there are four line level ones – ideal for a CD player, music streamer and other music sources.
